Fresno State fell to 0-2 in in its first Mountain West Conference men's basketball season, hitting only a third of its shots in falling 72-45 at No. 25 New Mexico on Saturday afternoon.
The Lobos (15-2, 2-0) led 39-22 at halftime and after that never were significantly challenged by the Bulldogs (6-9).
Alex Kirk had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead New Mexico, which hit 49% (29 of 59) of its shots. Marvelle Harris had 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting for Fresno State, which went 16 for 48 from the field.
The Bulldogs played without injured guard and leading scorer Tyler Johnson (ankle) and forward and leading rebounder Kevin Foster (family funeral).
