The SCAD Museum of Art has announced its participation in Blue Star Museums. The museum, in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and museums across American, will be offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day.
?"The SCAD Museum of Art is pleased?to welcome our country's service members and their families?through Blue Star Museums," said Kimberly Shreve, managing director of the SCAD Museum of Art, in a press release. "We invite our local military community to take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy exhibitions by some of the world's most highly acclaimed contemporary artists."
Other Blue Star Museum participants include the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the M.H. de Young Museum in San Francisco, the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Dallas Museum of Art.
Free admission is available to active-duty member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserve and up to five family members.
A record-breaking 2,000 museums across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and American Samoa are taking part in the initiative this year.

"Our work with Blue Star Families and with more than 2,000 museums across the country ensures that we can reach out to military families and thank them for their service and sacrifice."?
